I’m Moving @ the Library!
January brings a new program to our library!
Music and Movement! Preschoolers and
elementary children, parents too, will be moving and grooving during our Once Upon a Time Story Hour each month. The program supplements the 10 to 15 minutes of moving to music during storytime with the introduction of safe physical
exercises to do at home and materials to enable
parents to continue fun, music-related activities long after storytime is over.

Blast From the Past!
Thursday, January 21, 2010, 6:30-8:00 p.m.
This is a family program for children in Kindergarten through Middle School. All activities are
centered around the time period of the book that’s discussed. Featured book for January is Molly Bannaky by Alice McGill. Activities include book discussion, craft and snack. Come to the program and get the book FREE!
Next Blast program will be February 18.
Featured book: Reaching For the Moon by Buzz Aldrin.

Coffee, Tea, and Books!
An American Album Book Discussion
This free program is for adults who like to read and chat about books! Thursday, February 11, 2010, 6:30 p.m. The books are quick reads, mostly historical fiction, so they won’t take too much of your time. So join us at the Fort Loudon Library for coffee and tea and discuss the book A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly. Pick out a book to start reading for our discussion on March 11.

We Love Our Patrons Day!
Saturday, February 13, 2010, 9 to 12 noon.

Who’s Writing Your Story?
We love to read and listen to get a peek inside an author’s world, but who’s writing your story? Memories fade and knowledge disappears in just two generations if we don’t record our experiences as a legacy for others. From the smallest and silliest family traditions to the history behind the family heirloom— or the family feud— it all combines to make us who we are and influences who the next generation will become. If you aren’t writing it down, who is?
Whether you’ve never scribbled a line in a crisp, new journal or whether you are already thinking about publishing your own book of recollections, spend sixty minutes with us to get some fresh ideas on how to capture your own story for generations to enjoy. See some examples of what others are doing—on paper and electronically— and explore some published titles to help spark your own ideas.
This discussion will be led by Fort Loudon resident Yvonne Butts-Mitchell, a communications professional, wordsmith and tale weaver on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Fort Loudon Library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Please let the library know if you plan to attend.
